1.0 Network News
1.1 CN4M Networking Event. We would like to invite all our network members to a Networking Event...

1.2 Network Support. We are planning a series of workshops for network members on a range of issues. The first of these workshops will look at general good practice in relation to redundancy. This workshop is for both employers and employees.
The workshop will include the opportunity for one-to-one sessions with a specialist legal advisor from Direct Law and Personnel (DLP), and information from a union perspective.

1.3 Crime Forum (Central). FAO voluntary and community groups working within the areas of Hulme, Moss Side, Whalley Range, Fallowfield, Rusholme, Ardwick, Longsight, Gorton (North and South), Levenshulme and the City Centre.
Do you have a problem with crime in your neighbourhood? CSN are the voluntary / community sector representative on the Crime and Disorder Partnership and can help you tackle your local community safety needs. They guarantee feedback on all the issues you raise and will help get your priorities addressed at a senior level.

2.0 Training
2.1 ACM Training - 10% discount on upcoming workshops. ACM Training work predominantly with local authorities, NHS health trusts, charities and other non profit organisations to deliver affordable and effective training. They are currently offering a 10% discount on all bookings placed before August 2008. This includes external and in-house workshops. 2.2 Free MMU postgraduate modules. Manchester Metropolitan University is offering new Continual Professional Development postgraduate modules (free for qualified workers in some organisations) and a new Work Based BA Hons in Youth and Community Work for individuals working more than 12 hours per week in the voluntary or statutory youth and community sector. 3.1 Making Spending Count? A national conference on Participatory Budgeting and its role in Community Empowerment. Organised and hosted by the Participatory Budgeting Unit and supported by the Department for Communities and Local Government. Keynote speaker: Rt. Hon. 4.4 Effective consultation with the third sector survey. Involve, in partnership with Guidestar, are currently undertaking a project to explore the ways in which the third sector can be consulted effectively in public service decision making. This project is funded by the Office of the Third Sector and NCVCCO (The National Council of Voluntary Child Care Organisations) and the final output will be a useful toolkit for policy makers and consultation organisers.

4.5 Political parties battle for the high ground on social business. Social enterprise should be at the heart of all local government decisions and services, according to Communities Minister Baroness Kay Andrews. She made the call at an evidence session at the House of Commons, where she was part of a panel of parliamentarians and social entrepreneurs speaking on the subject of 'Social enterprise transforming local communities'. 4.6 The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service by Groups in the Community. Do you know of a group of volunteers that devotes time to helping others and makes a difference in your community? The Queen's Award for Voluntary Service is equivalent to the MBE and recognises the outstanding contribution that volunteers make to their local communities. An opportunity to take a high-profile role within Manchester's children, young people and families voluntary sector. Working with MACC's Child and Family Support Forum, you will lead on partnership working at the strategic level and the development of the voluntary sector's contribution to policy, decision-making & service delivery. 5.2 Manchester Deaf Centre - Part-Time Youth Leader. Pay: £10 per hour.
Manchester Deaf Centre is run by the deaf community and provides a place for deaf people to meet and socialise. The centre also provides advice on access to services and access to British Sign Language interpreters. They are looking for a self-motivated person to work as a youth leader for the deaf centre to care for children, during Friday Youth Clubs and Easter/Summer play schemes. 5.3 Self Help Services - Mental Health and Well Being Coordinator (Tier 2). Salary: £17, 781 per annum, Hours: 35 per week, Contract: Fixed Term for 1 year, Location: Zion Community Resource Centre, Hulme (working on an outreach basis in various locations in Stockport).
Self Help Services is a user led mental health charity that has developed considerable expertise in the field of primary care mental health. The charity currently delivers a range of services including self help support groups, complementary therapy services, CBT services and a primary care mental health team.
