Community Safety Network (CSN) crime forums are designed to help voluntary and community sector groups respond to local crime and disorder based concerns. The issues raised will be directed to Manchester’s Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership. Local Inspectors and Community Safety Co-ordinators review the information you tell CSN about and provide CSN with a feedback, so you know what actions have been taken.

Reminder from the Executive Group - Community Network for Manchester Strategy Group meeting and Executive Group Elections

The Community Network for Manchester Executive Group would like to remind network members that elections to the Executive Group will take place at the next Strategy Group meeting on Tuesday 10th March.

If your network wishes to nominate a member, or if you would like to recommend a potential co-optee, please fill in the registration form (which can be accessed here), and return it to Chiara Mallia no later than Monday 9th March.

Information about the roles and responsibilities of Executive Group members can be found here.

During this meeting, the nomination forms for network participants to the Community Network for Manchester Strategy Group will also be approved. To renew the nomination for your existing network participant, or to make a new nomination, please fill in the nomination form (which can be accessed here), and return it to Estelle Worthington no later than Monday 9th March.

Free Community Day - North Manchester Community Network

North Manchester Community Network will be holding a Free Community Day:

Better Together, the Annual Partnership Conference of the Learning, Skills and Employment Network (LSEN) for Manchester will take place on:

Are We on the Road to Wellbeing? Health & Wellbeing Network Wellbeing Event

The Health & Wellbeing Network is organising a wellbeing event for the Voluntary and Community Sector:

Round Two of the Lottery BASIS bids announced

North West Third Sector Infrastructure Support Agencies to get £7.5 million.

Infrastructure services do vital work to help voluntary and community groups achieve their aims, through services such as training, providing information, representing community groups' interests, supporting networks and sharing good practice.

The BASIS programme aims to ensure that voluntary and community organisations throughout England have access to high quality support that will help them be more effective.

A total of 119 voluntary organisations have been awarded £50m in the second and final round of the Big Lottery Fund’s BASIS programme – North West Third Sector organisations successfully bid for £7.5 million.

Breakthrough UK Independent Living Awards

The nomination process is now open for the 2009 Breakthrough UK Independent Living Awards. The awards recognise and celebrate organisations which actively promote the inclusion and independent living of disabled people.

Nominations (including self-nominations) are sought for the following categories: Information; Public Transport; Employment (1) – Public and Private sector employers; Employment (2) – Third Sector employers; Peer Support; Independent Living Initiative.

Inspire and Aspire - International Women’s Day Event

Bring and Share Event for MOMM: 1400

Manchester Oxfam Maternal Mortality Campaign (MOMM:1400) brought over 100 women together from across Greater Manchester to contribute to creating a giant blanket. This forms part of a campaign for a reduction in maternal deaths due to a lack of health care facilities and education.

We are holding a Bring and Share event where you can bring food and drink and view the blanket, watch a short film about the project and find out more about the campaign.

This event is free and open for you to just turn up on the day!

Chorlton's Big Green Festival

The first ever Big Green Festival will take place in Chorlton, Manchester on Saturday 4th April 2009. Organised by local volunteers this event is being shaped by the help and support of dozens of Manchester based musicians, charities, organisations and community groups.

The event will include: a fancy dress bicycle parade; a food foraging walk; a swap area, a personal wellbeing area; a variety of topical films, lots of locally sourced food and drink; a wealth of local plugged in and acoustic musicians; information and workshop spaces; a variety of environment related talks; and much more...

Refugee Teachers Network Conference

WomenZone: For All Women - Launch Event

WomenZone is a new women's group for the North Manchester area, based around health and well being. The group welcomes women from all backgrounds and ages and aims to be a platform to help women to become more informed about health & wellbeing. The group also aims to provide opportunities for women to build friendships and other social networks.
